We warmly invite you to join us on September 20 at ZENYK ART GALLERY for a singing circle with Nataliya Rybka-Parkhomenko, where we will sing and explore Ukrainian folk songs from the Kharkiv region. This is the homeland of the renowned artist Ilya Repin, a land rich with song and folklore.

Nataliya Rybka-Parkhomenko is an Honored Artist of Ukraine, an actress at the Les Kurbas Theater, and one of the lead singers of the ensemble “Kurbasy.” Born in Kharkiv, Nataliya brings a deeply personal connection to this evening, dedicating it to the songs of a strong and resilient land.

Program:

  • We will create a singing circle with traditional Ukrainian songs.

  • We'll sing Cossack, Chumak, wedding, love songs, as well as melodies from the domestic and everyday life of Eastern Ukrainians.

  • Through these ancient songs, you'll feel the voice of Eastern Ukraine.

  • You'll discover the traditions of daily life in the Kharkiv region, sense its natural landscapes, and touch on the historical events and dreams that shaped the area.

  • This evening offers a chance to sing together and feel the power of the collective voice — a reminder that Ukraine is one of the most song-filled countries in Europe, where living singing traditions are still preserved and passed on.

  • We'll also share a warm tea gathering.

The song culture of the Kharkiv region is rich, layered, and full of stories about courage, love, daily life, and the dreams of its people. Each song is a living voice of our ancestors, echoing through the centuries. When we sing together, we don’t just recreate melodies — we revive memory, restore strength, and write a new chapter in the story of resilience.

That is the essence of our singing circle in the gallery — a space where unity and new energy arise alongside art. Here, beside the canvases that tell their own stories, voices are heard that carry love for the land and faith in victory.

Singing circles at ZENYK ART GALLERY have already become a cherished tradition — they continue to grow and bring together more and more people who wish to sing, share warmth, and feel a sense of togetherness. This event is happening thanks to the sincere desire and intention to sing — together, for ourselves, for culture, for Ukraine.

In times when the enemy seeks to break us, erase our identity, and especially to destroy the culture of Eastern Ukraine, it is vital to come together, support one another, and preserve the invaluable heritage of these regions.

No prior singing experience is needed — this event will be born from your voice and your desire to sing. You’ll learn more about your own unique sound and how to share it with the world.
