The name stands for Zenyk Art Gallery and has a deep symbolic meaning. The Gallery was started by Zynoviy Kozytskyi, the founder of ‘Kozytskyi Charity Foundation’, and the ‘We and the World’ art exhibition project, which has been promoting Ukrainian art on the world scene since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. To date, it has organised more than 50 art projects in 17 countries.
The ZENYK ART GALLERY is named after and dedicated to the cherished memory of his grandson, Zenyk Kozytskyi Junior
‘So, what do I want to fill this space with? It is needed so that I have the idea of filling it with something. I like to look at it this way: the emptiness causes an imbalance in a person, shifts the ‘centre of gravity’, and by following this centre, we fill the emptiness with our own meanings. It is important to know how not to fill the emptiness with questions rather than answers, so as not to close it and stop the action before it starts,' from grandson Zenyk's notes.
This project is about the bond between generations, dynasty, preservation of family traditions and the genesis of heredity.
‘My son Maksym is passionate about art, he actively supports talented artists.
My grandson Zenyk, being aware of the significance of culture in public life, chose to specialise in cultural studies, as he had deep understanding and appreciation of art and deep passion for it.
Recognising the influence of art in shaping the society, we decided to create a new art space that meets all modern standards and needs,’ says Zinovii Kozytskyi
The ZAG is committed to delivering high-quality contemporary art to everyone, regardless of age, status or physical ability.
The Gallery sets up a space for dialogue between generations, cultures and communities, emphasising the value of humanity in art. It is an example of a barrier-free space where every visitor, including people with disabilities, can experience art through interactive exhibitions, events and unique performances.
‘Our country is rich in talents, and they deserve to be represented in Ukraine and abroad, demonstrating the world the true strength, uniqueness and depth of Ukrainian culture’, says Krystyna Berehovska, curator of the ZENYK ART GALLERY
ZAG will not only pursue the professional representation of Ukrainian artists on the international arena, but will also organise exhibitions of foreign artists in Lviv, promoting global cultural dialogue.
