Who was the mermaid in the folk ideas of Ukrainians - a mythical image, a warning or a symbol of the border between worlds? And how does this image appear in the work of Taras Shevchenko?
Anastasia Kryvenko's lecture will reveal a little-known dimension of Shevchenko - as a researcher of folklore, folk beliefs and the mythological world of Ukrainians.
The focus of the conversation is the image of the mermaid in the Ukrainian tradition, its symbolism and reinterpretation in Shevchenko's work.
