About the Event

Documentary and Art Series: “The Prisoner’s Flight”
The film is a sincere and painful confession. It recreates the events of the first weeks of Yatsenko's imprisonment — his deep emotional struggles, the fight for survival, and his inner resistance. “The Prisoner’s Flight” is a voice in support of Ukrainian prisoners — people who are paying the highest price for freedom and independence.

Event Purpose:
The ZAG Gallery, according to the organizers' vision, aims to unite the human rights and artistic communities by drawing attention to the topics of political repression, freedom, dignity, and humanity.

As part of the evening, a fundraiser will be held to support the families of Ukrainian political prisoners.

Event Program:
• Screening of the film “Strong in Spirit” by director and lawyer Viacheslav Bihun. This is a cinematic confession by Yurii Yatsenko — the first Ukrainian to escape imprisonment after the outbreak of war in 2014. Bihun previously worked at the European Court of Human Rights and now documents human rights violations through the language of cinema.
• Presentation of a sculpture by Stepan Fedoryn.
Panel Discussion featuring:
 — Yurii Yatsenko, the evening’s main guest
 — Myroslav Marynovych, former Soviet political prisoner, Vice-Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, and a symbol of Ukraine’s unwavering spirit of resistance
 — Moderator: Maria Tomak, Chair of the Media Initiative for Human Rights, expert at “Truth Hounds,” and former head of the Crimean Platform Office under the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea

Special Guest:
Vladyslav Yesypenko — journalist recently released from Russian captivity.
