On the Third Anniversary of the Liberation of Kherson from Russian Occupiers
On November 11 at 6:00 PM, at Zenyk Art Gallery, Lviv, 7 Shota Rustaveli St., the opening of the exhibition “KHERSON: NOT/stolen. Studies and Homages” will take place.
This is a joint project of artists from all over Ukraine who remain here and create beauty despite shelling and destruction. The project supports the Kherson Art Museum, which was looted by Russian occupiers literally just before the city was liberated in November 2022. This is a story of freedom and struggle. This is a dream of our future.
Kherson comes to Lviv through new works by Ukrainian artists.
Have you ever been to Kherson but never visited the museum? Don’t know what was there? Our project aims to show that contemporary artists know, remember, and honor those who were represented in the museum before the Russian occupation. Artists from different cities across Ukraine supported our project and created studies and homages to the works stolen from the museum.
We do not know when the Kherson Museum will reopen, but when its doors do open, visitors will be able to see contemporary works that are certainly no less valuable than those stolen, which Ukraine, we hope, will recover after our Victory.
Kherson is alive. We honor and support it.
