ZAG Studio presents Roman Zhuk's art project "Children of Vampires". This exhibition is an artistic study of the nature of vampirism as a force that exists much closer to us than Gothic legends suggest.
In the artist's concept, vampirism is devoid of the usual cinematic image. Its carriers can be seemingly defenseless children, beautiful women, status men or the closest people. It is a dark force capable of penetrating various forms of life, feeding on other people's achievements, appropriating success, light and vital energy.
Roman Zhuk addresses the complex nature of such relationships: someone submits to this force unconsciously, someone realizes it and tries to resist it, and someone voluntarily becomes part of the circle of dependence, self-sacrifice and absorption. The title "Children of Vampires" appeals to the ability of darkness to reproduce and spread itself, giving rise to new generations of those who exist at the expense of someone else's resource. Through the visual language of painting, the artist explores this vicious cycle of predation and dependence, creating a space in which the mystical ceases to be mere fiction and takes on the features of real human experience.
