In 2025, the world marks the 100th anniversary of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris — the event that gave rise to one of the most influential artistic movements of the 20th century: Art Deco.

Characterized by geometric precision, luxurious materials, and dynamic forms, Art Deco shaped painting, architecture, graphic design, and textile art alike. The exhibition “Carpet. Hlyniany Art Deco” highlights a unique phenomenon — the revival of Hlyniany patterned textiles, particularly flat-woven carpets that once achieved international acclaim. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Hlyniany became a center for author-designed carpets that won top awards at exhibitions in London, Milan, Poznań, New York, and Paris. Notably, at the 1925 Paris exhibition, the carpet “Grains” (designed by Józef Czajkowski) received a gold medal — and is also presented in the current display.

Today, this heritage is being revitalized by ZENA–Hlyniany–ART Studio, which between 2021 and 2025 restored the production of artistic textiles, including works in the Art Deco style. Visitors will see recreated carpets based on designs by prominent early-20th-century artists — Vasyl Tson, Teodor Hrynevych, Józef Czajkowski, Sofia Stryienska, and others — as well as original contemporary interpretations of Art Deco carpets by Zenoviia Shulha.

Dates: November 26 – December 7, 2025
Venue: ZAG Studio (3rd floor)
Address: Zenyk Art Gallery, 7 Shota Rustaveli Street, Lviv
