About exhibition

Ex humo (Latin for “from the earth”) is the title of Dmytro Koval’s new exhibition, in which the earth becomes the conceptual core of the project. It appears not only as a motif for painting, but also as a space of memory, light, and continuous renewal. Dmytro Koval’s practice focuses on exploring the landscape as an art form that goes beyond the depiction of nature.

Working in the techniques of oil and monumental-sacred painting, the artist builds multi-layered pictorial surfaces, where color, light, and texture become the main means of understanding space. Landscapes, trees, flowers, and human images in his works form a single artistic world in which nature appears as a carrier of memory, time, and human experience.

The Ex humo exhibition at ZAG Studio is an attempt to look at the earth as a source of light, memory, and home, where painting becomes a space of attentive contemplation and inner dialogue.
