Zenyk Art Gallery invites you to a lecture by Yulia Shylenko, the chief curator of the funds of the National Taras Shevchenko Museum, a researcher and museum worker who has dedicated her professional life to the preservation and popularization of the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
“Painting is my profession and my daily bread,” - these words Taras Shevchenko wrote in his Diary on June 25, 1857 in the Novopetrovsky fortification, when he received news of a possible dismissal, which he had to wait for almost a whole year.
How and what Taras Shevchenko studied at the Academy of Arts, how long his studies lasted, who were his teachers and classmates, what successes and grades he had, how he planned to implement his professional knowledge will be considered at the lecture “Painting is my profession”, dedicated to Taras Shevchenko’s professional education. The lecture uses original materials and documents from the collection of the National Taras Shevchenko Museum.
