About the Event:
Is a gallery space really a place of boredom and disinterest for children? Is looking at a painting always a difficult task rather than a fun game? Modern parenting practices suggest otherwise.
At the lecture “How to Talk to Children About Art” with speaker Iryna Mahdysh – art historian, cultural figure, and writer – we will explore how engaging with art helps shape a child’s personality, develops their aesthetic tastes, and broadens their overall knowledge.
In a productive discussion, we will look at the methods for presenting a work of art to children, how to explain its context, how to talk about sensitive topics, and how to help a child feel and understand art about war – especially when they have already become direct witnesses of it. An important part of the conversation will also be devoted to rethinking and adapting gallery and museum spaces to make them more accessible to young visitors.
We warmly invite everyone interested to join the event.
